Tas Recycle

Building a Business from the Ground Up with Ignite Project Services

The Challenge

When Ken Roughley stepped into the CEO role at TasRecycle, he faced a daunting task: build an entire company and deliver a major public recycling scheme by May 1st — a much tighter timeline than similar initiatives in other states. With no team in place and the clock ticking, Ken needed high-quality, values-aligned talent fast.

The Ignite Solution

Ken turned to Ignite Project Services. Within days, Ignite had placed Program Manager Sam — who started on the very same day as Ken. The alignment was immediate, with Sam becoming a cornerstone of the project. As the initiative scaled, Ignite also provided additional support, including Victoria (People & Culture) and Katie (Marketing).

Ken credits Ignite not just for its rapid response and access to top-tier talent, but for something more critical: a cultural match. Mel Lukianenko’s ability to align people beyond technical skills, ensuring value and team fit, was key to success.

“You have a special skill in matching people to people, not just skills to situations. That cultural alignment makes all the difference.”
– Ken Roughley, CEO, TasRecycle

Results:

  • Go-live achieved on schedule (1st May 2025)

  • Successfully built TasRecycle’s team from the ground up

  • Strong cultural fit led to high performance and team cohesion

  • Ongoing collaboration with Sam and others to support operational needs

  • Expanded Ignite’s support beyond IT into marketing and HR

Why Ignite?

“Ignite's collaborative approach and delivery of project objectives and strategic outcomes has been fantastic.”

Ken highlighted the flexibility, responsiveness, fair pricing, and long-standing relationships that define Ignite’s approach. Whether agreeing on deliverables verbally when needed or delivering value without red tape, Ignite proved itself as a true partner.

Looking Ahead

With Ignite’s help, TasRecycle didn’t just meet a deadline — they launched a program that’s now operational and growing. Ken has been delighted with the outcome.
